ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. temp. Yazid I ibn Mu'awiya, AH 60-64 / AD 680-683. Fals (Bronze, 20 mm, 4.00 g, 9 h), Arab-Byzantine type, 'Pseudo-Damascus' mint. Imperial figure seated on throne facing, holding long cross in his right hand and globus cruciger in his left; in field to left, stylized bird on T-shaped porch; around, traces of legend. Rev. Large m in center; above, cross flanked by stars; below exergue, /M𐊔Δ; to left and right, traces of legend; in the angles of m, serpentines. Goodwin&Gyselen p. 233, Fig. 103. Extremely rare and with a fine pedigree. Patina stripped and with a flan fault, otherwise, very fine.
